weston park cancer support charity

Carers’ Course

If you need help supporting someone with cancer, we can provide a 5 week programme of support and practical advice, led by a healthcare professional and designed to help you. In a relaxed, informal setting you will meet others in a similar situation to yourself, along with experienced healthcare professionals, who will guide your discussion.

The sessions last about 2 hours and there is plenty of time to ask questions, share your experiences and listen to the views of people who may be experiencing some of the same problems you are facing and help you find your way forward.

Course content includes:

  • How to deal with stress and anxiety
  • Coping strategies
  • How to cope with fatigue and tiredness
  • Encouraging sleep and relaxation
  • How to talk to family and friends
  • How to talk to healthcare professionals
  • Healthy eating, exercise and looking after yourself

To book a place, or for further information please contact the Centre on 0114 226 5666.

“The course was useful for many reasons – great information and opportunity to share experiences. Helped me to realise that I am not alone and that my situation is similar to others and my feelings and thoughts are not unique to me. It has given me the opportunity to accept where we are and to think ahead, not only for my wife, but for my family and myself – thank you.” Read More Personal Experiences
