We offer a holistic range of services, practical and emotional, run by healthcare professionals to support anyone affected by cancer; patient, family or friend.

Our drop-in service is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, no appointment necessary.

Headways

There is a display of headwear (including wigs and scarves) here at the Cancer Support Centre.  We can also refer you to Headways, which is a service run in the Patients’ Library at Weston Park Hospital and is for people who are likely to lose some or all of their hair due to cancer treatment.  For more details, please contact: Chris, June or Sarah on 0114 226 5390.

 

Cavendish Cancer Care

Cavendish Cancer Care support local people who are living with cancer, giving them and their families the chance to talk in confidence and offer complementary therapies to support them.

Active Everyday

Active Everyday is a physical activity programme, funded by Macmillan Cancer Support, that helps people affected by cancer to increase their activity. They can help you find local activities that you enjoy, with personalised advice from cancer specialist instructors.

Age UK Sheffield

Age UK Sheffield’s Independent Living Co-ordinators (ILCs) work with people aged over-50, in their home, to help them retain or regain their independence. When people are diagnosed with a life-changing illness, a lot of focus goes on their physical condition. What our ILC service provides is the holistic support around that. ILCs use a wealth of knowledge to help customers to achieve their goals, assisting them to access services, resources, and local assets to enjoy independent living.

Sheffield Occupational Health Advisory Service (SOHAS)

Provides information, help, support and advice on workplace health issues. A trained advisor can help with issues such as reasonable adjustments in the workplace, return to work plans, rights at work and work related benefits.

St Luke’s Hospice

Caring for people aged 18 and above throughout Sheffield who have terminal illnesses, as an inpatient or in the Community. Providing therapies in a rehabilitation centre, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, hairdressing, symptom control.

A group for bowel cancer patients and carers, providing peer support and an opportunity to share experiences.

A Sheffield Support Group for pituitary patients in the area, providing an opportunity to discuss, meet and support others.

Haematology

Sheffield – Royal Hallamshire Hospital Haematology Support Group

A Support Group for people with Lymphoma, Myeloma and other associated conditions, their carers, family and friends of patients.  Meetings are held at Weston Park Cancer Information and Support Centre, 23 Northumberland Road, Sheffield, S10 2TX and include: emotional support, medical professional speakers, discussions and social activities.

The group meets every other month on a Wednesday at 3pm – 5pm.  Please telephone for the dates.

A Support Group for all head and neck cancer patients, their carers and family.

Upper Gastro-intestinal  (GI)

HUG Cancer Support Group

A support group for upper GI cancer patients, particular after surgery.  The group meet every two months for a chat and to share experiences.  Health professionals are on hand to offer advice.  The aim is to get to know other people going through the same experience.
